Garden Suburb FC Lighting Upgrades

Garden Suburb Football Club is pleased to announce we have been successful in obtaining a grant of $291,952 through Stage 4 of the NSW Governments Stronger Country Community Fund.
We would like to thank the NSW Government and Deputy Premier Paul Toole for this opportunity and acknowledge the support provided by Northern New South Wales Football in preparing the grant along a $40,000 co-contribution through their Facility Fund we received in 2020 along with Lake Macquarie Council for their support and assistance.
Garden Suburb Football Club has also made a significant co-contribution to the grant that has only been possible through the hard work and support of our members, sponsors and supporters. This support really is appreciated in what is the first stage of the facility upgrades.
This is huge news for the whole club and not only provides improved light coverage at the club for games and training, but will also increase our available training space by lighting the area beyond the cricket pitch. The future implementation of drainage on Margaret West field will see further opportunities for Friday night teams at the club.
Works on the project are well underway with design work and geotechnical investigations already being completed and we are aiming to have the lights in place for the 2022 season.
We will keep members up to date as the project progresses.

HELP NEEDED!

We’re looking for 3-4 people to form a sub-committee to assist in the management and coordination of the juniors effective immediately and to progress through to the 2022 season.

Ideally, we are looking for:
>  1-2 Coordinators for U5 – U6’s
>  1 Coordinator for U7 – U8’s
>  1 Coordinator for U9 – U11’s

As a coordinator, you would act as a point of contact for parents, carers, and coaches of your specific age group, as well as being responsible for player allocations prior to the season commencing.

The juniors have been coordinated by numerous committee members in previous years. Unfortunately, our children are now moving through to older age groups and we cannot give the junior division the time and commitment it needs.

We are open to suggestions and discussions on how the role will work with those involved but it is important to know that you would have the full support of the club committee for any guidance and assistance you would require.

If the Junior Coordinator role isn’t suited to you, but you have a set of skills that could help in another role, please have a look over at our committee page for all the vacant roles we currently are looking to fill.

BECOME A REFEREE IN 2020!

Persons wishing to attend a Level 4 course and become a match official must:
– Be at least 13 years of age as of the date of the course;
– Be currently registered with FFA; and
– Have successfully completed the FFA online Laws of the Game course and exam within the last two years.

For more information or to register, visit:
