Womens Football Information Night – 7pm, February 7th at Cardiff RSL

With many enquiries received about Women’s football at the club this season we have decided to have an information night.

The night will enable existing players and anyone thinking of joining the club to ask questions and hear the clubs direction and goals with respect to women’s football. The night will be hosted by our Women’s Coordinator, Lauren, and the club President, Lenny.

This is also an opportunity for new players joining the club to meet existing players as well as an opportunity for all to have input into the coming season and future direction of Women’s football at the club.

Parents of junior girls are also welcome to attend the night as are the parents of any junior players or teams looking to join the club.

Please share this night amongst your friends or anyone you know wanting to play or try Football at a supportive club and we would welcome any returning players, new players or any individuals or teams looking for a new club.

On the night we will also have registration information, clothing and uniform order forms.7

Garden Suburb FC Girls and Womens Football 2017 – Players and Teams Wanted

With the new season rapidly approaching and registration set down for early february, the club is seeking to expand its already successful female football division.

In recent seasons the Kingfishers have specifically focused on female football with a goal to increase participation numbers. This has seen rapid growth in teams over recent years and moving forward into the 2017 season Garden Suburb FC is looking to further grow and expand its girls and womens football teams.

As a club, we have set both short and long term goals with respect to growing female participation and would welcome any individual players, or teams, that would like to join us.

Currently, our club fields girls only teams playing in girls competitions, whilst also giving them the choice to play in mixed teams if they prefer, from the U6’s through to All Age. Those on the mini-roos fields in recent years will have seen the growth in the junior girls teams, something we will be striving to ensure continues well into the future.

This year, we also saw the junior girls interacting and supporting our senior womens team, something that was hugely successful and we will be expanding upon in the coming season.

If you, someone you know, your wife or your daughter have thought about playing football but don’t know where to start, contact the club and we would be happy to answer any questions. We pride ourselves on being a friendly community club that value and support participation and will welcome any players or teams to join our club.

Registration dates and fees will be available shortly on the club website and Facebook page, however please email gardensuburbfc@macquariefootball.net.au or call Leonard Allen 0421278619 (Junior Football) or Lauren Stewart 0448216893 (All Age Women) for more info.

Please pass this information onto anyone who may be interested.

Condolences to the Bonnay Family

Garden Suburb Football Club would like to offer our condolences to the Bonnay family following the passing of their father Steven Dick in a tragic accident at Boomerang Beach last week.

The Bonnay family have been regulars at the club over past seasons and the thoughts of the Kingfishers are with the family.

The club will be holding a fundraiser for the family next weekend during both the Junior games on Saturday and the Senior games on Sunday. Further details coming, but we will be running raffles as well as other fund raising initiatives to support the family at this time.

Garden Suburb FC receives a grant to realign number 3 field.

The club is pleased to announce that it has received a grant through the NSW Governments “Community Building Partnership Scheme” to realign the number 3 ground to provide a second full sized field with the same dimensions as Lance Yorke.

The new ground will run east-west and it is planned to leave the old goals in place for training.

Works will involve,

  • Relocation of the Cricket Pitch to the east.
  • Turfing of the old cricket pitch area.
  • Installation of fencing along the carpark end of the field.
  • Installation of new goal posts.

it is hoped that the creation of a second full sized pitch will allow for the load to be spread from Lance Yorke while also allowing additional Friday night matches.
